Remember this project from last summer? My hexi Grandmother's Garden quilt has made a brief reappearance. I seem to be between major knitting projects at the moment and decided to switch things up a bit. I'm not sure that I ever showed you how far I got on this quilt before I packed it away for the winter. I really do enjoy working on it, it just takes a lot of time to make a little progress. My goal this week has been to make at lest one "flower" a day. After I finish my final Camp Loopy knitting project I hope to get a little more serious with this quilt. I still have no idea what I'm going to make it into. Sometimes I think a baby quilt and then I think a table runner. Who knows? I have enough fabric to at least double it in size and then add some borders. It just reminds me of summer.
Slow going, but so worth the effort.
Just a little side note. We finally got word from the insurance company yesterday that they have decided to call my car a TOTAL loss. I guess that means I will be shopping for a new one soon. I wish I could tell you I was excited about that. Oh well....
Have a great Wednesday.

A Temporary Fix
Last Thursday evening on my way home from work I was involved in a multi car pile up on the interstate. I'm fine except for a couple of sore spots, but my poor little car got squished on both ends. I was one of the middle cars and there was just no way of preventing it. I have to tell you that I was pretty scared and considered never driving a car again for a couple of hours. Once reality set in and I calmed down a bit I realized that never driving again probably was not an option. What do they say? "You've got to get back on the horse". So, for the time being I'll be driving this little Impala. It's definitely not me, but it will do until the insurance company figures out what to do with my Rav4. I really want my car back, but I know that's probably not going to happen. I keep reminding myself that it was just a car and it did it's job keeping me safe. I have a tendency to get a little attached to things that I think I'm going to have in my possession for a while, like cars, and phones and washing machines. Call my crazy. That's just the way it goes.
Hope you are having a lovely weekend!

Christmas In July
As you can probably tell from my lack of posting, not much has been going on around here lately. Like the rest of the country we have been spending a lot of time waiting for much needed rain. It seems to be falling all around Louisville, but never quite makes it to our backyard. So, we have had the cloudy, muggy weather with none of the benefits. They say that today is the day. If not, we have to wait until Wednesday. I guess I'll be out watering my garden again this afternoon.
In other news: today is my 2 year Blogaversary! Can you believe it? I sure can't. I never in all of my wild dreams thought that I would still be doing this. It's so scary how time flies and before you know it 2 whole years have passed by. Yikes! I went back and read some of my very first postings the other day. Boy, I sure can ramble on. Thanks to all of you who have been such faithful readers. It is a very nice feeling to know that I have family and friends out there that are checking up on me.
Anyway, back to today's Christmas in July theme. I thought I'd show you a couple of pictures of my GREEN beans and RED tomatoes just to help get you into the Christmas mood. Is it working?
Last night I was invited to a Christmas in July stamping party. I spent the evening with some of the nicest ladies that I have met since moving to Kentucky, making Christmas cards, eating delicious food and laughing up a storm.
These are the cards that I came home with. 3 of them we made last night and the other 3 were just gifted to me. I personally love them all and would be hard pressed to pick a favorite. The Jolly card in the front is pretty cute though. If you are on my Christmas card list, you just might be seeing that one again.....
I was also given this lovely stack of assorted cards just because. Is that not the sweetest thing? I must have passed the initiation test, because the best part of the night was that they asked me to join their monthly card club. I just can't tell you how excited I was to finally after 2 years in Louisville feel like a part of something. OK, so it's just a card club, but to me it's the possibility of new friends and that is really what it's all about. I feel like I was given a giant Christmas in July gift last night and I am celebrating!
Hope you have a wonderful weekend

Happy Birthday Alan!
Hope you enjoy this little slide show of Alan's BIG birthday. I've recently discovered these SmileBoxes from Hallmark and I'm having a lot of fun with them. Please let me know if you have any trouble opening it. It saves me a ton of time. Uploading pictures to my blog seems to take forever.
Alan is taking turning 50 in stride. He appears to be in perfect health and is doing his best to stay fit. His brand new bike should help with that. If you see him out riding, honk twice and be sure to give him plenty of room.

Fourth Of July With Ang & Dew
This free slideshow design generated with Smilebox |
Our good friends Angela and Dewy drove up from Louisiana to spend the Fourth of July with us. Actually, they moved their daughter and son-in-law to Nashville and had a few days of vacation left to spare. Can you think of a better way to spend the 4th? It was 103 degrees outside so we decided to check out the Kentucky Derby Museum and managed to stay inside most of the day. We all had a great time and can't wait to visit with them again soon. Hope you had a wonderful 4th and found a way to stay cool too.
