Daffodil Power

What could be more cheery than Daffodils?

I picked these up at Kroger last week and have been waiting (sort of patiently) for them to open.

Today was the day and really these pictures do not do them justice.

They just remind me of bursts of sunshine, something that we are surely lacking around these parts.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the squirrels didn't eat all of the bulbs that Alan planted for me last fall.

Hopefully in a few weeks I'll be showing you pictures of our yard full of daffodil sunshine.

A Walk in the Park

The temperature made it up into the 50's yesterday and we decided to take advantage of it by taking the dog to Water Front Park. The park runs along the river with great views of both downtown Louisville and Indiana across the way.

You can tell that there weren't many other people out and about. I guess 54 degrees is still a little chilly for folks around here.

Maybe they are waiting for the grass to turn green and the trees to get some leaves.


Some day we are going to eat at Joe's Crab Shack. Alan is pretty sure that even though the sign says that "Joe knows crab", he probably knows chicken too. I'm hoping for hush puppies.

Not quite sure why there is a giant Abe in the park. Maybe if I had taken the time to read the signs it would make sense.

Alan says that this Corps of Discovery plaque is a way mark and has something to to with Louis and Clark. I'm taking his word on that.

I know that some of you are being hit by yet another big storm. Hopefully it's the last and spring is really on it's way.

You've Got Mail

The doorbell rang. When I opened the door, no one was there just a brown box sitting on my front porch. A brown box that I was not expecting to arrive until sometime next week. What a happy surprise.
I know that you already are aware of how I feel about Pottery Barn. I have been admiring these drapes in the catalog ever since we moved into the house. They don't carry them in the store, so I was having a difficult time deciding how they would look in person. I imagined the colors to be a little bit brighter, but now that they have been hanging up all afternoon and some of the wrinkles are falling out. I think they are quite charming. Maybe even elegant in a cute kind of way.

I'll let Alan make the final decision.

I can hear you laughing. OK, so my guess is we will keep them. What do you think?

Tea of the Week

This weeks tea is Green Tea with Peach from Bigelow. We used to drink the Green Tea with Mango, but I can't find it here. The peach is pretty tasty hot or cold. I have to admit, that the real reason that I buy it is because I love the color green of the box and individual packages. It's bright and goes perfectly with all of the red stuff in the kitchen. Is that a silly reason or what?

One of my favorite treats with tea is a little slice or two of my Grammy's banana bread. When cleaning out the freezer, which was long over due, I found half a loaf all wrapped up tight in foil. I couldn't believe my luck.

I'm off to enjoy my little snack while I look through my new sock pattern book. Who could ask for more?

I'll post the banana bread recipe above in "I Love the Taste of..." It's the best way I know to use up questionable bananas.

Even More of My Favorite Things

Since I mentioned my quilting/sewing favorite things, I thought it only fair that I also tell you about my new knitting favorite things.

I just discovered these Chiaogoo needles. I have always been a fan of bamboo needles. I liked the fact that they weren't slippery and my stitches stayed on. But these little babies are amazing. They are pointy,they have a little bend in just the right place and the "cute" red cord is very flexible and red. If you need new needles, give these a try.

my other new favorite are these Chibi darning needles. They have a big eye and a little bend at the tip that makes sewing up a seem a piece of cake.

Who wouldn't love a cute little lamb tape measure and even cuter sheep stitch markers?

I love my knitting "stuff".

Tulip Time

Don't you just love tulips?

When you buy them they are all tightly closed up and you have no idea what is hiding inside.

Then, overnight POW!

I am particularly found of these with the black and yellow center. They match my living room perfectly.

What's for Breakfast?

When I reached into the fridge this morning to grab the 1/2 & 1/2 for my coffee, I found a container of beautiful strawberries and was I ever bummed.

I had planned to dip those babies in chocolate and serve them to my sweetheart last night for a little Valentine's dessert.

Oh well... maybe next year...

At least they didn't go to waste. That would have been even worse.
