It Must Have Been A BIG Boom

A nasty storm passed through Louisville yesterday while Alan and I were both at work.
We arrived home to find this giant hunk of our pear tree laying in the front yard.
As best we can tell it got struck by lightning
Apparently the only witnesses were the dog and the cat
and I'm guessing they were both hiding somewhere safe.
the funny thing is, we actually think the tree looks better now.
It was damaged by an ice storm before we moved in and it's always been a bit misshapen.
Seems like Mother Nature really does know what she's doing.
We are very grateful that it didn't fall on the house, or a passing car, or a person for that matter.
Now we just need to figure out how to get rid of it...
