I Wasn't Kidding

Remember that little "hording" issue that I mentioned the other day? Well look what I found in the cabinet today. This pumpkin bread mix is from last year, but I just couldn't bring myself to use it because then it would be all gone, and what would I do if an occasion arose that called specifically for Pumpkin Patch bread? I'd be angry with myself for not saving it, that's what. I know that my wonderful Tastefully Simple consultant and friend is shaking her head right now. But this little secret that I'm sharing with you is something that she's know about for a long, time. Sorry Barb.

Another Autumn Favorite

I love, love, love this little candle. Why I didn't buy more than one I'll never know, cause I went back to the store today and they are all gone. Just my luck. Oh well, I guess I just won't be burning this one, at least not anytime soon. The handwriting goes all the way around and this is what it says...

Autumn days are here again.....

In Autumn when the trees are brown, the little leaves come tumbling down. They do not make the slightest sound. But lie so quietly on the ground. Until the wind comes puffing by... And blows them off towards the sky.

Isn't that just so sweet? I think I need to figure out how this little guy was made. I wish my handwriting was neater.

Pumpkin Everything

I know I've probably mentioned my love for pumpkin in the past. Have you noticed that just about everything comes in a "pumpkin" flavor this time of year?

I love all of the choices, but I feel this crazy need to buy one of everything pumpkin that I see. I know these are "limited time only" products and that as soon as they are gone I'll have to wait until next year for more. I might be turning into a pumpkin hoarder. Is that possible?

All I know is that I need enough pumpkin stuff to get me through to Thanksgiving. After that I can get on with regular non-pumpkin life.

Something New

I have been on the hunt for something to fill this little corner space since we moved into this house a year ago. I knew in my mind what I wanted, but the inspiration piece from Pottery Barn at $350 was a bit out of my price range. Enter Target. Who knew that one day while shopping for regular old sheets, I'd discover what can only be called the perfect knock off. Exactly what I have been looking for, for a quarter of the price. Oh happy day!

Sorry for all of the pictures, I just wanted you to see it from every angle. the drawers will hold candles and napkin rings (yes, I have that many) and the baskets will hold place mats and napkins.

I did happen to buy it on a day that Alan was out of town, so I had to put it together myself. I admit that I'm a little challenged in following picture diagram directions. I got it half way together and realized I'd made a little mistake. So, it took me longer to put it together than it should have, but who cares. I can cross one more thing off of my list.

Tuesday Morning

The sun is shining!!! It's going to be 78 degrees today!!! Who could ask for more? I dropped the dog off at the groomers this morning, mailed a package to David and then decided that I NEEDED a Pumpkin Spice Latte from Starbucks.

Apparently everyone else in Louisville was thinking the same thing, because the line at the drive up was LLLLLOOOONNGGGG. I didn't really mind though, because did I mention the sun is shining and I got to have a good chat on the phone with one of my bestest friends. I'm really getting into the swing of Autumn now. I've decided to call it Autumn instead of Fall, because I think it just sounds so much better. "Autumn" sounds like it feels to me, colorful and cozy. "Fall" just sounds like a short word and I want Autumn to last a long, long time.

Training Continues

A beautiful day for a hike. Blue skies and a little on the chilly side. We went back to the same forest as last week, because it's the closest to home.

Today we did the Yost Ridge Trail to the Mitchell Hill Lake Loop trail which eventually connected back to the Yost Ridge Trail. The whole thing was about 3.5 miles with some moderate and strenuous parts. Alan's phone app says it was a 629 foot climb and that we burned 580 calories.
All I know is that there sure was a lot more to look at. The little lake was picture perfect, a great place to take a breather.

I think having the sun out made a huge difference as well.

The wild flowers were enjoying the sunlight too.

There is even a scenic overlook where you can see the city of Louisville off in the far distance. We tried to take a picture, but the city scape didn't show up.

Not sure where we will go next week, all I know is that Alan is serious about this training stuff, so the hike will probably be a little longer and a little tougher. Yahoo!

Friday at the Art Fair

I was invited to attend the St. James Court
Art Fair with a wild bunch of woman.

These ladies have this fair thing down to an art.

They meet up around 9:00 AM for tailgating, which includes breakfast casseroles,pastries, bloody Mary's, and Mimosas.

Around 10:00 they head on over to the fair.

I have been to a lot of art fairs in my day, but honestly none of them compare to this one. This is one of the oldest and largest art fairs in the country. It takes up several blocks of Old Louisville. It's so big and so well attended that the public school is actually closed on Friday because of it. HUGE

The ladies that I was with have been doing this for so long they even know many of the vendors by name. They definitely have favorites that they must visit.

They always have Crab Cake sandwiches for lunch along with a glass or two of wine.

I had to leave the party after lunch, but they were still going strong at 7:00 PM. I don't know how they do it. Next year I'm going to have to rest up and make sure that I have a good nights sleep so that I can be better prepared.

I bought some beautiful pottery made by an artist from Kansas


and I also picked up a new salt and pepper shaker. I think I really liked the packaging.

What a great experience. I'm already looking forward to next year.
