Just A Little Hike

We had some pretty decent weather last weekend. it was chilly, but the sky was blue and the rain which had done some serious damage here in Kentucky was gone. Alan and Grace hiked a trail at Floyd s Fork Park the weekend before and wanted to go back and try a different trail. Grace has fancy new hiking boots that she wants to break in before she leaves for China. She seems to think she will be doing some hiking there....
At the trail head there was a "little" sign suggesting that if the ground was muddy you should turn around. At that point it looked fine to us, so off we went. What a bad idea. I'm not sure if you can tell from the pictures, but it was one soggy hike. Wet leaves and mud can be very slippery, more so for some of us than others. We eventually crossed over an actual paved path and decided to take that route back to the car. I'm not even sure we hiked a full mile, but my poor boots look like we trucked through a swamp. Grace's new boots don't look so new anymore.  You've gotta love the great outdoors.
